BELFAST: The spirit of Onam 2025 is set to blaze across Northern Ireland as various Malayali community associations announce a series of vibrant celebrations. This year promises to be the grandest yet, with cultural performances, traditional feasts, and festivities lined up throughout August and early September.
The Lisburn Indian Malayali Association (LIMA) will host its celebration on 30 August 2025 at St Patrick’s Pastoral Centre, starting from 10:30 AM. The highlight of the event will be the much-awaited Sadya (traditional vegetarian feast) and the entertaining Tug of war, promising a day of flavour and fun.
Meanwhile, the Malayali Association of Antrim (MAA Antrim) has scheduled its grand Onam festivities for 22 August 2025, with promises of a spectacular celebration. More details are expected to follow soon.
On the same day as LIMA(30 August, 2025), the Bangor Malayali Association (BMA) will host its Onam event at St Comgall’s Parish Centre, Bangor, from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Attendees can look forward to a day filled with “Interesting Onam Moments”, reflecting the cultural richness and joyful traditions of Kerala.
The Northern Ireland Malayali Association (NIMA) has announced its celebration for 29 August 2025, with the venue to be confirmed. Like others, NIMA too promises a string of engaging “Onam moments” that aim to bring the community together.
The Belfast Malayali Association will mark its Onam celebration on 26 August 2025, with the venue details yet to be revealed.
Adding to the festive lineup, Malayali Heritage has announced its Onam celebration on 6 September 2025 at St Anne’s Parish Hall, Belfast, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The event is expected to feature traditional programs, cultural showcases, and a warm gathering of families and friends.
